Hatch

Join the Rest Revolution
The world is wired and tired. It's plagued by screens, notifications, and the sense that you should always be doing ... something. But hey, you're reading this job application right now, so you probably know exactly what we're talking about.
So here's a bit of good news amidst all the noise: Hatch is a sleep wellness company that's betting on rest in a culture obsessed with optimization. While most technology is designed to keep you engaged, our devices use the science of habit formation to help people unplug, unwind, and recharge. Through genuinely enjoyable routines, habit building, and gentle guidance (no sleep scores or wearables here), we help people build healthier sleep habits and feel the difference in everyday life.
Ten years ago, we started with a mission to help parents navigate the complexities of newborn sleep. Today, we're helping more than 5 million people (and counting) take care of themselves and the people they love through the power of rest.
We’re open to candidates across the U.S. and Canada. However, please note that Hatch is based in California, so we just ask that you're available during PST/PDT hours.
The Opportunity
We're hiring a Director of Growth Strategy — a senior IC role designed to be the strategic nerve center of the growth organization. This person synthesizes signals across marketing channels, sales channels, product, and customer data to surface the highest-impact growth opportunities and threats before they become obvious. They operate without execution ownership, without channel bias, and with direct access to the executive team. Their primary deliverable is insight and recommendation that drives leadership decisions.
This is not a channel ownership role. Not a brand strategy role. Not a data analytics role. It sits at the intersection of all three — and exists because no single function can see the full picture alone.
This role reports to the VP of Growth Marketing and partners closely with channel owners, Creative, Analytics, Product, and Finance.
What You’ll Do
Your First 45 Days
<ul>
<li>Get up to speed on Hatch's business: channel mix, unit economics, customer segments, subscription dynamics, and key performance drivers across DTC and retail.</li>
<li>Build a clear view of current growth performance across marketing, retail, and DTC — identifying the most critical gaps and highest-potential opportunities.</li>
<li>Partner with Analytics, channel owners, and Finance to understand how data is structured and where the key blind spots are.</li>
<li>Surface 3–4 high-impact opportunities or risks with clear hypotheses and initial recommendations to guide near-term focus.</li>
</ul>
By 90 days
<ul>
<li>Regularly synthesize inputs across paid media, retail, DTC, market signals, and customer behavior to identify the most important growth opportunities and risks.</li>
<li>Translate complex or incomplete data into clear narratives that help leadership make fast, confident decisions.</li>
<li>Challenge assumptions across the growth organization — bringing an outside-in perspective that no single channel owner can provide.</li>
<li>Establish a consistent cadence of insight sharing that keeps the executive team focused on what matters most.</li>
</ul>
After Your First Year
<ul>
<li>Play a central role in shaping Hatch's growth strategy, contributing to annual planning and long-term investment decisions.</li>
<li>Identify step-change opportunities across channels, customer segments, geographies, and new growth levers.</li>
<li>Serve as a trusted thought partner to the executive team — the person leadership turns to when the most important and ambiguous growth questions need a clear answer.</li>
<li>Expand scope as Hatch grows: international expansion, new product categories, new audience strategies, and new revenue models all come through this function.</li>
</ul>
What You’ll Bring
<ul>
<li>8–12 years of experience in growth strategy, marketing strategy, or business strategy with significant consumer brand exposure.</li>
<li>Meaningful experience at a DTC consumer brand — consulting background is a complement, not a substitute.</li>
<li>Proven track record of independently structuring and delivering analyses that drove major business decisions — not just supported them.</li>
<li>Experience presenting strategic recommendations directly to C-suite or board-level leadership and earning their trust.</li>
<li>Genuine fluency in how consumer growth channels work — not as a practitioner, but enough to know what the signals mean: paid social, search, influencer, retail, Amazon, DTC, and subscription economics.</li>
<li>Strong commercial instincts: you think naturally in CAC, LTV, payback period, contribution margin, and channel ROI.</li>
<li>IC analytical self-sufficiency — you can build your own analysis from raw data when needed, not just direct others to do it.</li>
<li>Executive communication — you can take a complex, multi-variable picture and land a clear point of view with a CEO in 10 minutes.</li>
<li>Comfort with SQL, Excel/Sheets, and BI platforms, with a focus on interpretation and synthesis over reporting.</li>
<li>High curiosity, strong business judgment, and the ability to identify what matters most in a fast-moving environment.</li>
<li>Experience scaling a consumer business from early growth stage through significant revenue scale, ideally $15–200M+ run rate.</li>
</ul>
