At SKB Cases, we build rugged, dependable products, and we are building an HR team to match. We’re growing, and we’re looking for a hands-on Director of Human Resources to lead people operations at our Orange, California campus.

This is a builder’s role. You’ll design and modernize the HR programs, systems and processes that support our growth, acquisitions, and multi-state expansion. You’ll also be the trusted partner leaders turn to, and the go-to resource employees count on. What you’ll do

• Serve as a strategic advisor on workforce planning, organizational development, talent, and employee relations, and turn business goals into practical HR plans.
• Create, document, and continuously improve policies, standard operating procedures, process maps, and playbooks that bring consistency and efficiency to everything we do.
• Implement and optimize our HRIS, payroll, performance, learning, and self-service tools. Find smart ways to automate administrative work and improve employee experience.
• Develop strong onboarding, performance management, talent management and offboarding processes, and lead recruiting and hiring for all positions.
• Coach managers, conduct investigations, administer the employee handbook, and keep us current with California and federal employment law.
• Build KPIs, dashboards and reports, and present workforce trends and HR initiatives to executive leadership.
• Lead benefits renewals with our brokers and carriers, oversee our 401(k) plan and its annual audit, and recommend competitive pay and incentive programs.
• Help with acquisition due diligence and integration, standardize practices across business units, and lead change management.
• Hire, coach, and develop the HR team, and help build leadership capability across the company.
• Boost morale, retention, and engagement, and help us maintain a strong safety culture.

What you bring

• A bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a manufacturing or plant environment.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with California employment law and payroll requirements.
• Deep knowledge of California and federal employment, labor, and immigration laws.
• Experience driving a safety culture and improving HR metrics.
• Proven success using an HRIS (ADP or similar) to streamline HR processes.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative, confident style that builds credibility at every level.
• Sound judgment, discretion with confidential information, and a highly organized, detail-oriented approach.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to support our other locations.

You’ll stand out with:

• Bilingual Spanish (strongly preferred).
• PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification.
• Payroll processing experience.
• Experience presenting HR data to a board.
