Director, Infrastructure Engineering

For our client, we are seeking a Director, Infrastructure Engineering to join the team of a leader in the Telecommunications & Hardware space.

This leader will guide the infrastructure function that supports highly available telecommunications and hardware operations. The role will own technical direction, team leadership, and operational execution across data centers, cloud environments, and network security. You will partner closely with Product and Development teams to ensure infrastructure decisions support reliability, scale, cost discipline, and business growth.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $170,000 – $250,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a high-performing infrastructure team of approximately 12 engineers
• Oversee capital and operating budgets with a focus on reducing costs without sacrificing reliability
• Set technical direction for data centers, cloud environments, and network security
• Collaborate with Product and Development teams to integrate infrastructure into product design early
• Develop team leads and evolve the team structure as the organization matures
• Define and enforce security policies for data center and cloud infrastructure
• Create strategic plans and presentations connecting infrastructure investments to business outcomes
• Establish a 24/7 on-call escalation model and accountability for incident outcomes
• Champion automation and modern infrastructure practices to support company growth
• Explore AI applications to enhance infrastructure operations and efficiency

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or operations, including 5+ years in leadership roles
• Deep technical expertise in Linux, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and networking
• Proven experience managing capital and operating budgets, including vendor negotiations
• Experience leading teams through significant organizational changes, such as mergers or consolidations
• Background in telecom, VoIP, or high-availability service environments preferred
• Track record of measurable cost optimization in infrastructure
