Director, Model Engineering & Operations

For our client, we are seeking a Director Model Engineering & Operations to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will lead operational priorities where safety, quality, compliance, and execution discipline are central to success. You will collaborate with field leadership, support functions, and cross-functional stakeholders to improve accountability, service delivery, and operational consistency. The position offers the opportunity to influence operational scale, customer outcomes, and organizational performance within a regulated financial services environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $135,600 – $237,400 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and production of AI/ML models for various health plan operations
• Oversee the end-to-end MLOps lifecycle on Databricks
• Establish and enforce model monitoring practices for accuracy and compliance
• Guide the evaluation of generative AI capabilities for analytics and automation
• Define engineering standards and design patterns for ML delivery
• Manage compliance and documentation processes for model risk
• Translate business problems into ML engineering initiatives with clear metrics

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field required
• Master's degree preferred
• 8 years in software/ML engineering required
• 5 years of leadership experience required
• Experience with MLOps practices and productionizing ML models at scale required
• Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare data standards required
