Director of AI Engineering

For our client, we are seeking a Director Of AI Engineering to join the team of a leader in the Healthcare space. This role will lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a healthcare environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy end-to-end AI solutions across various operations
• Develop and manage a roadmap for AI automation initiatives
• Directly manage a small team of engineers while maintaining hands-on involvement
• Identify and address operational challenges through AI systems
• Evaluate and implement new AI tools and frameworks tailored to operational needs

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of engineering experience with a focus on AI systems
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, APIs, and system design
• Proven hands-on experience with AI technologies and tools (e.g., LLM orchestration, vector databases)
• Track record of building systems that deliver measurable operational improvements
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience leading and developing small engineering teams
• Preferred: Expertise in machine learning and change management
