  • Work with academic departments to integrate AI meaningfully into subject teaching and learning.
  • Build relationships with external academics and form partnerships with pioneering technology companies and research institutions.
  • Develop talks, workshops, masterclasses and enrichment opportunities for pupils.

Leadership and Staff Development

  • Reporting to the Head Master, contribute to whole-school strategy and decision-making as a member of the Senior Management Team.
  • Lead the new Artificial Intelligence Department and line manage teaching colleagues.
  • Build effective relationships with senior academic and support staff across the College.
  • In partnership with the Deputy Head (Pupils), ensure the College’s values and commitment to character development remain central to the AI curriculum and programme.
  • Work closely with the Futures team to ensure the AI programme prepares pupils for a rapidly evolving world of work and future career pathways.
  • Lead professional development on the responsible and effective use of AI for academic and support staff.

AI Policy, Governance and Safeguarding

  • Lead the development, implementation and regular review of the College’s AI policies, ensuring they address responsible use, academic integrity, assessment, data protection, privacy, safeguarding and ethics.
  • Monitor developments in regulation, guidance and best practice relevant to AI in education.
  • Work with relevant colleagues to keep the College’s approach legally compliant and appropriately risk managed.
  • Provide clear guidance to pupils, parents and staff on the responsible use of AI.

AI-enabled Operations

  • Identify opportunities where AI could improve efficiency, quality, decision-making or the experience of pupils, parents and staff.
  • Develop and evaluate appropriate pilots, with clearly defined benefits and success measures.
  • Advise on AI-related software, platforms, hardware, external expertise and professional development.

Collaboration with the Wider Family of Schools

  • Work with senior colleagues to support meaningful AI education in Brighton College Prep Schools.
  • Act as a source of expertise and advice to the College’s family of international schools.
  • Share curriculum resources, policies, training approaches and best practice where appropriate.
  • Support a coherent approach to AI education across the wider group.

Reporting and Strategic Planning

  • Report to the Vice Principal on the development and delivery of the College’s AI strategy.
  • Provide regular updates to the Senior Management Team on progress, opportunities, risks and impact.
  • Maintain a strategic roadmap for AI development across curriculum, staff capability, operations and governance.
