What they need
Maintex is a family-owned manufacturer and distributor of janitorial and sanitation (jan/san) products, based in the City of Industry in the San Gabriel Valley. We’ve been in business for more than 65 years, and today we’re led by the third generation of our family. We’re proud of how long we’ve lasted, and we’re investing in the people and systems that will carry us into our next stage of growth.
About the role
You’ll lead our two distribution sites and the private delivery fleet that serves our customers, with full accountability for safety, service, productivity, and cost. You’ll report to our COO and lead three managers.
This is a builder’s role. You’ll standardize how both sites operate and move us from a casual labor model to a stable, tenured, cross-trained workforce. You’ll also put clear dashboards and management routines in place so we run on data. We’re looking for a hands-on, visible leader who is just as comfortable on the dock or running a driver safety meeting as presenting a budget to senior leadership.
What you’ll do
- Build the workforce. Partner with HR to convert temporary and agency labor into a tenured team through better hiring, onboarding, training, pay progression, and retention. You’ll coach your managers and build a ready-now successor at each site.
- Run on data. Build and own dashboards for warehouse, fleet, safety, and cost. You’ll also set up the daily, weekly, and monthly routines that keep the operation on track, from shift start-ups to monthly business reviews.
- Standardize and improve. Document standard work across receiving, put-away, replenishment, picking, packing, loading, returns, and inventory control so both sites run the same way. You’ll lead Lean Six Sigma projects and teach your managers to solve problems on their own.
- Plan for growth. Turn sales forecasts and new business into capacity, labor, equipment, and facility plans, and build labor plans from measured standards.
- Improve the fleet. Strengthen routing, load planning, and dispatch to improve on-time delivery and cost per stop.
- Own the numbers. Build and manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets, flag shortfalls before month-end, prepare ROI cases for equipment, automation, and vehicles, and manage leases and key vendors.
- Lead on safety. Build a culture where near-misses get reported and anyone can stop unsafe work. You’ll run the safety program, keep both sites compliant with Cal/OSHA, keep the fleet compliant with FMCSR, and lead audit preparation.
- Become the systems expert. Serve as the go-to expert on our ERP and WMS fulfillment modules, and partner with IT on configuration, upgrades, and training.
What you’ll bring
- 10+ years in warehouse and distribution operations, including receiving, inventory, fulfillment, and shipping
- 5+ years at the senior manager or director level, leading managers and supervisors
- Private fleet experience, including dispatch, routing, drivers, and vehicle management
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, with completed projects you can walk us through
- A track record of turning a temporary or casual workforce into a stable, tenured team
- Hands-on, power-user experience with an ERP and WMS
- Experience building operating budgets and capital requests
- Working knowledge of Cal/OSHA and FMCSR requirements
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience leading more than one site, or a site plus a fleet, at the same time
- Experience managing fleet and equipment leases
Our values
At Maintex, we work by six core values: Integrity, Responsibility, Excellence, Respect, Teamwork, and Customer Focus. In this role, that means applying the same standards at both sites and treating every associate, temp, and driver with dignity. It also means running the sites and fleet as one operation, and planning ahead so customers never feel the strain of a busy season.
[Benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, etc.]
Maintex is an equal opportunity employer. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities. We will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records in accordance with the California Fair Chance Act.
