What the job involves

  • We are seeking a seasoned engineering leader to lead our Full Stack Engineering team, responsible for building and scaling our critical Enterprise Clinical workflows platform
  • The Butterfly Cloud provides a secure and robust connection to user's health information — powering tools and services that help doctors and clinicians make informed, intelligent diagnostic decisions with the help of their peers
  • As Director, you will lead a distributed team of engineers across both onshore and offshore locations, setting the technical direction for our enterprise platform — including user and organization administration, feature and entitlement management, global search, audit logging, and scalable platform features
  • You'll partner closely with Product, Design, and other engineering leaders to shape roadmap priorities and drive execution across the full stack
  • As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be to:
  • Lead, grow, and inspire a high-performing full stack engineering team spanning onshore and offshore engineers — fostering a culture of excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Define and drive the technical strategy and architecture for the Enterprise Clinical workflows platform, balancing innovation with reliability, security, and scalability
  • Own engineering roadmap execution — partnering with Product and Design to translate business goals into clear, well-scoped plans, and holding the team accountable to delivery
  • Recruit, retain, and develop top engineering talent; build a healthy team culture where people grow and do their best work
  • Establish and evolve engineering processes — code review standards, on-call practices, incident response, and cross-team ways of working — to maximize team effectiveness across time zones
  • Serve as a senior technical voice across the organization, contributing to architectural decisions, evaluating new technologies, and raising the bar on engineering quality
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with Product, Design, Data, Security, and Compliance stakeholders to ensure alignment and unblock the team
  • Drive a culture of observability, operational excellence, and HIPAA/PHI compliance across the platform

Benefits

  • 100% coverage for medical, dental, and vision (flexible buy-up plans with employee contributions)
  • HSA for out-of-pocket expenses, plus other pre-tax savings like the Dependent Care Account (DCA)
  • Life insurance and disability coverage for you and your family
  • Pre-tax or post-tax 401(k) contributions (company match vests immediately)
  • Employee stock purchase plan
  • Recognition program and other rewards
  • Parental leave and support for employees during pregnancy loss
  • Flexible (reasonable) PTO, along with 10 US holidays observed each year
  • Birthday PTO
  • Hybrid work model for most positions
  • Offices designed for collaboration, with comfortable workspaces, stocked kitchens, and opportunities to connect with peers
  • Opportunity to build a revolutionary healthcare product and save millions of lives!
