What they need
About Us
Zachary Confections, Inc. is a well-established and growing, family-owned candy manufacturer based in Frankfort, IN. We are committed to serving our customers with a focused dedication to quality, reliability, and consistency. We strive to manufacture high-quality products through the effective and efficient use of ingredients, packaging, and people. Our delicious chocolates, mints, candy corn, mello-cremes, panned creations, and jellies are distributed nationwide through many of the largest retail partners. It is rewarding to know that our treats are close at hand wherever people go.
The Opportunity
Our technology environment is stable but aging and requires significant modernization.
The first major priority is completing an upgrade of our Aptean Ross ERP system from a legacy version to the current target platform. Significant preparation has already been completed, including data conversion, testing, training, and integration work. The project needs a strong internal owner to train internal staff, validate readiness, resolve remaining issues, establish go-live criteria, and bring it across the finish line.
Beyond the ERP upgrade, the Director will assess the current IT environment and lead a practical modernization program involving infrastructure, virtualization, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, business continuity, and system reliability.
What You Will Do
- Lead the Aptean Ross ERP upgrade through successful go-live and stabilization.
- Serve as the company’s internal owner for Ross ERP and related business processes.
- Work directly with employees to diagnose ERP and technology issues, understand the underlying problem, and resolve it or coordinate the appropriate outside resource.
- Develop and execute a prioritized technology modernization roadmap.
- Lead improvements to infrastructure, virtualization, cloud adoption, networks, backups, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery.
- Direct and hold accountable the company’s managed IT provider and other technology vendors.
- Evaluate vendor recommendations, proposals, costs, and performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing and business processes through better use of technology.
- Develop technology budgets and capital priorities with the CFO and senior leadership.
What We Are Looking For
- 7+ years of progressive IT experience.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or a similar operating environment.
- Strong ERP/MRP experience. Aptean Ross experience is highly desirable but not required.
- Experience with a significant ERP implementation, upgrade, or migration.
- Broad knowledge of infrastructure, virtualization, cloud technologies, Microsoft environments, cybersecurity, backups, and disaster recovery.
- Experience managing MSPs, consultants, and technology vendors.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to understand technology problems from the user’s perspective.
- Ability to move comfortably between strategy, project leadership, vendor management, and hands-on problem solving.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
The Person Who Will Succeed Here
We are looking for a practical technology leader, not someone who wants to manage IT from a distance.
You should enjoy understanding how a manufacturing business works, listening carefully to users, solving problems, challenging outside providers, and improving systems over time.
Most importantly, you should be someone who finishes things.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of an established technology environment at an important point in its evolution and leave it more reliable, secure, modern, and capable than you found it.
