Our client is leading North American company specializing in the production, marketing, and distribution of fresh, sustainably grown consumer products.

About the role:

The Director, Packaging Innovation and Engineering leads the packaging function's continuous-improvement agenda across specification management, packaging equipment, innovation, and packaging analytics. This role owns the overall packaging CI roadmap — driving cost, quality, service, and sustainability improvements across the US, MX, and Canada network. The Director leads a cross-functional team of specialists and managers, aligning packaging conformance, equipment performance, the innovation pipeline, and packaging analytics toward common performance targets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set and own the packaging continuous-improvement strategy and roadmap across the US, MX, and Canada network.
• Lead and develop the packaging team — Packaging Specialist, Packaging Equipment Manager, Innovation / Special Projects Manager, and Packaging Analyst.
• Drive continuous improvement in packaging specifications, conformance, and quality standards.
• Direct equipment performance, uptime, OEE, and automation initiatives across grower and production sites.
• Own packaging analytics and reporting — cost, usage, and performance visibility that drives data-led CI decisions.
• Champion the packaging innovation pipeline — sustainability initiatives, cost-out redesigns, and new-format launches.
• Establish CI governance — standard work, KPIs, dashboards, and stage-gate project reviews across the function.
• Partner with Operations, Finance, and R&D to prioritize, fund, and deliver improvement projects.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field; advanced degree a plus.
• 10+ years of packaging, supply chain, or operations experience, with 5+ years leading and developing teams.
• Demonstrated track record leading continuous-improvement / operational-excellence programs (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
• Broad expertise spanning packaging specifications, equipment engineering, innovation / commercialization, and packaging analytics.
• Multi-site, multi-country experience (US/MX/Canada strongly preferred).
• Strong financial acumen — capex business cases, cost savings, PPV, and working capital management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and executive-level stakeholder management skills.
