Director, Platform Engineering

For our client, we are seeking a Director Platform Engineering to join the team of a leader in the Media space. This role will lead technical work focused on secure, reliable systems and risk-aware execution. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a Media environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $150,000 – $200,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, and data professionals
• Partner with business units to define data platform requirements
• Own platform SLAs, uptime, cost management, and quality standards
• Drive best practices in data engineering, governance, and DevOps
• Oversee vendor relationships and cloud partnerships
• Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations
• Champion a culture of data democratization and self-service analytics

Qualifications

• 12+ years in data engineering, architecture, or platform leadership roles
• 5+ years in a director or senior leadership role managing technical teams
• Experience delivering enterprise-scale data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg)
• Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Executive communication skills to influence cross-functional stakeholders
• Experience with budget management and P&L ownership
