What they need

About the opportunity

Take a senior role in a growing advisory business where you can influence client outcomes, develop talented people and help shape the future of the valuations practice.

We are seeking an experienced Director to join an Auckland-based valuations team within a broader advisory business.

The business:

You will work with an established team advising organisations on complex commercial, financial and transaction-related matters. The environment is commercially focused, collegial and committed to high-quality advice.

The role

What you will be responsible for:

You will take ownership of significant valuation engagements from initial scoping through to final advice. Alongside technical leadership, you will deepen senior client relationships, support business growth and build capability across the team. This role suits an established valuations leader who combines commercial judgement with a practical, clear approach to complex issues.

Key responsibilities include:

·        Directing valuation assignments involving businesses, equity interests, financial instruments and intangible assets across transaction, tax, financial reporting, employee equity and dispute contexts.

·        Reviewing and challenging valuation models, assumptions and reports to ensure conclusions are robust, well supported and useful to decision-makers.

·        Advising boards, executives and other senior stakeholders on value drivers, market evidence, cost of capital and the commercial implications of valuation findings.

·        Growing the practice through trusted client relationships, opportunity development, proposals and active contribution to the market.

Leading engagement teams, overseeing quality, risk and financial performance, and coaching people to strengthen their technical and client capabilities.

Experience and capabilities

What you will bring:

·        At least ten years' relevant experience in professional services, investment banking, corporate finance or a comparable advisory environment, with substantial valuations experience.

·        A CA qualification, CFA designation or another relevant professional credential.

·        Strong command of valuation approaches, financial modelling and complex financial and market analysis, together with advanced Excel capability.

·        Experience leading complex, high-value engagements while maintaining quality, managing risk and meeting commercial commitments.

·        Sound business judgement and the ability to turn detailed analysis into concise advice that senior stakeholders can act on.

·        Evidence of winning work, expanding client relationships and contributing to proposals or broader market activity.

·        A collaborative leadership style and a record of developing capable, inclusive and accountable teams.

·        Confidence working through ambiguity, competing priorities and demanding timeframes.

·        Clear written and verbal communication, including experience presenting technical conclusions to boards and executive audiences.

Why join

A senior role with scope to influence:

This opportunity offers meaningful input into the direction and growth of the valuations practice, supported by colleagues across a broad advisory platform.

You will join an environment that values sound judgement, respectful challenge, professional development and different perspectives.

What is available:

The overall employment offering is designed to support flexibility, professional growth, wellbeing and connection.

Benefits include:

Support for professional qualifications and memberships, subsidised health and income protection insurance, 22 days of annual leave, wellbeing and social initiatives, paid community involvement, sustainability programmes, flexibile working arrangements and other employee benefits.

We are committed to fair and inclusive recruitment. If the role interests you but your background does not match every requirement, we still encourage you to apply and tell us what you would bring.
