Job Description: Treasury / Liquidity Management
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Treasury professional to join a growing financial services organization and play a key role in managing liquidity, funding, and balance sheet activities across its broker-dealer platform. This is a highly hands-on role focused on the day-to-day management of liquidity while also providing a strategic perspective as the business continues to grow, execute larger transactions, and expand its underwriting activities.
The ideal candidate will come from a boutique or middle-market broker-dealer/investment bank where they have operated in a lean environment and gained broad exposure across Treasury, funding, liquidity, settlement, and balance sheet management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor daily liquidity and cash requirements across the broker-dealer.
- Oversee short-term funding activities, including day loans and other borrowing arrangements.
- Manage and develop relationships with banks, lenders, and other funding counterparties.
- Support secured funding facilities and evaluate funding needs across the organization.
- Monitor liquidity requirements associated with equity and fixed-income underwriting activity.
- Partner closely with Operations, Finance, Regulatory Reporting, and Sales & Trading teams.
- Understand settlement activity and its impact on daily liquidity and funding requirements.
- Monitor the balance sheet and proactively identify potential liquidity constraints.
- Understand the impact of business activity on broker-dealer net capital requirements.
- Work closely with the team responsible for monitoring daily regulatory capital.
- Provide strategic insight around liquidity management as the organization takes on larger and more complex transactions.
- Help strengthen and further develop the firm’s Treasury and liquidity-management infrastructure.
Requirements:
- Significant Treasury, liquidity management, or funding experience within a broker-dealer, investment bank, or similar financial institution.
- Strong understanding of broker-dealer balance sheet and liquidity management.
- Experience with short-term borrowing, day loans, secured funding, and bank counterparties.
- Familiarity with equity and/or fixed-income underwriting and settlement processes.
- Working knowledge of SEC Rule 15c3-1 and broker-dealer net capital requirements.
- Ability to understand how underwriting and settlement activity impacts liquidity and regulatory capital.
- Strong preference for candidates who have worked within boutique with lean infrastructure.
- Comfortable operating both strategically and at a highly hands-on level.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across Finance, Operations, Risk, and senior leadership.
