Disability Support Worker

About the role

As a Support Worker with Shining Star, you will support clients to live as independently and confidently as possible. You will provide person-centred support based on each client's individual needs, preferences and goals.

Key responsibilities

• Providing compassionate and respectful one-on-one support
• Assisting clients with daily living activities and personal care where required
• Supporting clients with community access, appointments and social activities
• Assisting with shopping, meal preparation and household tasks
• Encouraging independence and supporting clients to achieve their personal goals
• Providing companionship and emotional support
• Following individual support plans and workplace procedures
• Maintaining accurate and professional documentation
• Promoting the safety, dignity, rights and wellbeing of every client
• Communicating effectively with clients, families and other support professionals

About you

• Caring, patient and compassionate
• Reliable, punctual and professional
• Respectful of people from diverse backgrounds
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Confident communicating with clients, families and other professionals
• Flexible and willing to support clients with different needs
• Passionate about making a positive difference in people's lives
• Previous experience in disability, aged care, community services or support work is highly regarded
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Current Working with Children Check, where applicable
• Current First Aid and CPR
• Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle
