Disability Support Worker

Briighter Care is an NDIS-registered provider supporting participants with complex and high intensity needs. We are growing our team and looking for experienced, reliable support workers who want long-term employment, not a stopgap.

Many of our participants do not cope well with change. Consistency of support is central to how we work. This is a permanent part-time position, not casual, and we are only looking for people who intend to stay long term. If you are looking for short-term or temporary work, this role is not for you, and we ask that you do not apply.

What you will be doing

• Providing personal care and hygiene support, including high intensity personal care
• Supporting participants with complex behaviours, following individual support plans and behaviour support strategies
• Using safe manual handling techniques
• Assisting with daily living activities, meal preparation and household tasks
• Supporting community access and social participation
• Supporting medication routines in line with participant plans and our procedures
• Completing accurate shift notes and documentation
• Protecting each participant's dignity, privacy, choice and independence
• Working closely with families, support coordinators and the wider care team

Essential requirements

• Minimum 1 year of disability support experience
• Experience in high intensity care, and you must be comfortable with high intensity personal care
• Experience supporting complex behaviours
• Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent
• Availability to start shifts from 5:30am
• A genuine commitment to long-term employment with us
• Flexibility and a team-first attitude, including being open to occasional last-minute requests to help cover a shift
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Current Working With Children Check
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Australian working rights
• Current driver's licence and reliable transport with comprehensive car insurance

Training and qualifications

Keeping your own qualifications and certifications current (including First Aid, CPR, NDIS Worker Screening and Working With Children Check) is your responsibility. We provide free online training, and where a participant you support requires specific training, completing it is mandatory before you can work with that participant. Workers who do not complete required training will not be able to be rostered to that participant, which may affect your hours.
