Buddies C.A.N is a family‑owned, values‑driven registered NDIS provider supporting people with disabilities across Ballarat and surrounds. If you're someone who leads with heart, loves helping others, and thrives in a community‑focused environment, we’d love to hear from you.

About Us

Established in 2017, Buddies Community Access Network is built on one belief: real connections matter.

We don’t just roster people - we match them. That means pairing the right Buddie with the right participant to create meaningful, long‑term relationships.

We’re a supportive, down‑to‑earth team that puts people first - participants and staff alike.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Disability Support Worker to provide support within our Supported Independent Living (SIL) services.

This role involves delivering person-centred support that promotes independence, wellbeing, dignity, and quality of life. You will provide consistent, responsive care while building positive relationships with participants, families, and support networks.

Responsibilities include supporting individuals with daily living activities, community participation, emotional wellbeing, and maintaining routines that enhance comfort, safety, and quality of life. A calm, patient, and person-centred approach is essential.

This is a hands-on, rewarding, and meaningful opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of people with disability and complex support needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred support with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, household tasks, and attending appointments.
  • Assist participants to access their community, maintain social connections, and engage in recreational activities.
  • Safely transport participants to appointments, programs, community activities, and outings.
  • Promote participants' emotional wellbeing, independence, and quality of life.
  • Complete shift notes, incident reports, and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain compliance with NDIS requirements, organisational policies, procedures, and mandatory training.
  • Build positive, respectful, and trusting relationships with participants and their support networks.
  • Respond to changes in behaviour with empathy, professionalism, and a calm, supportive approach.
  • Support individuals living with dementia and/or cognitive and physical impairments with confidence, patience, and understanding.
  • Remain attentive, proactive, and responsive throughout night shifts when required.

About You

You will be:

  • Calm, patient, and adaptable in your approach.
  • Confident supporting people with a range of disabilities, complex needs, and individual support requirements.
  • Able to respond to changing situations and behaviours with empathy, professionalism, and good judgement.
  • Reliable and flexible, with availability to work a variety of shifts including sleepovers and active nights.
  • Attentive to participant wellbeing and able to remain alert and responsive during overnight supports.
  • Passionate about building positive relationships and supporting people to live fulfilling and independent lives.
  • Committed to delivering consistent, high-quality, person-centred support.

Previous experience supporting people living with dementia or cognitive impairments is highly regarded.
