Disability Support Worker

Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and well-being
• Support with medication administration according to care plans, ensuring safety and accuracy
• Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and preferences
• Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients’ mental health and social engagement
• Perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe environment
• Assist with mobility and transfer techniques, including heavy lifting when necessary, using proper safety protocols
• Document care activities accurately in client records and communicate updates with team members effectively

Experience

• Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or in assisted living environments is highly preferred
• Background in patient care, nursing home settings, senior care, hospice care or home care is advantageous
• Familiarity with dementia care and caregiving techniques enhances your ability to support diverse needs
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently is essential for certain tasks
• Experience in medication administration, meal preparation, cleaning, and general caregiving duties is desirable
• Strong communication skills combined with a caring attitude are vital for building trusting relationships with clients
