Support Worker

Location: Ely, Cambridgeshire
Company: Oxana Care Ltd
Work Location: In person

About the Role

Oxana Care Ltd is looking for compassionate, reliable and enthusiastic Support Workers to join our team, providing high-quality, person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities and/or behaviours of concern.

Our aim is to empower the people we support to live fulfilling, meaningful and independent lives. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to make their own choices, develop their skills, build positive relationships and participate fully in their community.

As a Support Worker, you will play an important role in helping individuals achieve their personal goals, develop confidence and enjoy new experiences. You will provide practical assistance, emotional support and encouragement while promoting dignity, choice, independence and inclusion.

This is an active, varied and rewarding role. We are looking for someone who enjoys getting out and about, has a positive attitude and is enthusiastic about supporting people to explore their interests, participate in activities and make the most of opportunities within their community.

No two days will be the same. You could be supporting someone to prepare a meal, manage their finances, attend an activity, develop a new skill or experience something they have never tried before.

Building positive, trusting relationships is central to this role. We value staff who are patient, consistent and dependable, and who understand the importance of creating a safe, supportive and encouraging environment.

All support is delivered in accordance with individual care and support plans, risk assessments and personal preferences, ensuring each person receives support tailored to their needs, wishes and aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, respectful and person-centred support that promotes dignity, independence and choice.
  • Support individuals to participate in community activities, access local facilities, pursue hobbies and develop new interests.
  • Encourage and actively participate in recreational and physical activities, which may include swimming, walking, football, bowling, table tennis and other activities.
  • Assist individuals with everyday living skills, including cooking, shopping, budgeting, cleaning and household management.
  • Support individuals to build confidence, develop independence and achieve their personal goals.
  • Develop positive, trusting and professional relationships through consistent, reliable and respectful support.
  • Encourage individuals to express their wishes, make informed decisions and have greater control over their lives.
  • Follow individual care and support plans, risk assessments and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies, where applicable.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to individual communication needs, emotional wellbeing and behaviours of concern.
  • Support individuals during challenging situations using a calm, patient and proactive approach.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and other professionals to ensure consistent, high-quality support.
  • Maintain accurate daily records and communicate important information effectively.
  • Promote individuals' rights, wellbeing and safety, following safeguarding procedures and organisational policies.
  • Encourage positive relationships, community inclusion and opportunities for personal development.

We are looking for individuals who share our values and are genuinely committed to making a positive difference in people's lives.
