Disability Support Worker

About the role

Life Without Limits Supports Co is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team in Naracoorte, SA. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide essential support services to individuals, helping them to live independently, participate in their communities, and achieve their personal goals. This role is fundamental to our mission of empowering people with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives with the support they need.

Key responsibilities

• Assist clients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing and meal preparation
• Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, building positive relationships based on trust and respect
• Support clients to access community activities, social events and recreational opportunities
• Assist with mobility and manual handling tasks in a safe and dignified manner
• Help clients manage appointments, medications and healthcare needs as directed
• Maintain accurate and timely records of support provided and client progress
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, colleagues and healthcare professionals
• Promote client independence, choice and control in decision-making
• Respond to client needs with patience, empathy and professionalism

What we're looking for

• A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and commitment to their wellbeing and empowerment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds
• Physical capability to assist with manual handling and mobility support tasks
• Reliability and a flexible approach to work, given the casual nature of the position
• A non-judgmental attitude and respect for client dignity, privacy and preferences
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills to maintain records and follow instructions
• Willingness to complete training in disability support best practice, manual handling and first aid
• Ideally, relevant experience working in aged care, disability support or community services, although comprehensive training will be provided to suitable candidates
• A valid driver's licence and access to reliable transport (desirable, depending on client locations)
• A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding professional boundaries
