Disability Support Worker

Are you reliable, kind, and someone who genuinely loves dogs? We’re growing our team of casual support workers to cover regular and backup shifts in Brighton East and the surrounding Bayside and South-East Melbourne areas.

Who you’ll support

• Adults living with psychosocial disability, in their own homes and community
• Young people living with intellectual disability

What you’ll do

• Support with community access, appointments, shopping and outings
• Help with household tasks such as laundry and tidying
• Encourage goals like study, creative hobbies and staying active
• Follow each participant’s support plan and behaviour support strategies

You’ll be a great fit if you

• Love dogs and are comfortable working in homes with several pets
• Are punctual and dependable, and let people know early if plans change
• Give people your full attention, with your phone away on shift
• Are patient, calm, honest and good at listening
• Respect people’s right to make their own choices
• Have a good sense of humour

Essential

• NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willing to obtain)
• Working With Children Check (Employee)
• Current First Aid and CPR
• Full driver’s licence, reliable car and comprehensive insurance
• Australian work rights

Highly regarded

• Cert III/IV in Individual Support, Disability or Mental Health, or relevant experience
• Experience with mental health, trauma-informed support, diabetes or epilepsy
• Experience supporting young people with intellectual disability

Female support workers are strongly encouraged to apply, as some participants prefer female workers.
