What they need

Join a growing NDIS provider where people come first.

Sisters in the City is a queer and nurse-owned NDIS provider supporting people with physical disability, psychosocial disability and complex health needs across Brisbane. We're expanding our Disability Support Worker team and are looking for compassionate, reliable and person-centred workers who enjoy building genuine long-term relationships with participants.

We have open rosters across Brisbane's north, south and west right now, with immediate-start shifts available and ongoing opportunities to grow your roster as our participant base continues to expand.

Whether you're an experienced Disability Support Worker, studying Nursing, Psychology, Social Work or Allied Health, or simply looking for a provider that genuinely values quality support over rushed visits, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you'll provide individualised support to NDIS participants in their homes and throughout the community.

Supports may include:

  • Community access
  • Personal care
  • Domestic assistance
  • Meal preparation
  • Medication prompting
  • Capacity building
  • Transport to appointments
  • Social and recreational activities
  • Mental health support
  • Behavioural support implementation
  • Progress notes and documentation
  • Working collaboratively with families and allied health professionals

Every participant is different, and you'll receive client-specific training before commencing supports.

Current Service Areas

We're currently recruiting support workers across several Brisbane service regions, and we aim to match staff to their preferred region wherever possible to reduce travel time and support consistent, long-term participant relationships. Our current focus is:

  • North / Inner Brisbane: Brisbane City through the inner north and northside suburbs.
  • South Brisbane / Logan: Brisbane City through to the southside and Logan corridor.
  • West Brisbane / Ipswich Region: Brisbane City through the western corridor and into the Ipswich area.

Additional opportunities become available regularly across Brisbane as our services grow. Applicants are encouraged to let us know which areas they're comfortable travelling to. Where possible, we roster support workers within one primary service region to minimise travel and maximise consistency for both staff and participants.

  • Is reliable and professional
  • Communicates with warmth and respect
  • Can work independently while remaining part of a supportive team
  • Is passionate about person-centred support
  • Values consistency and building genuine rapport with participants

Experience supporting people with disability, psychosocial disability or mental health conditions is highly regarded but not essential for every role.

Essential Requirements

  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Current Blue Card (or ability to obtain)
  • Current First Aid & CPR
  • Current Australian Driver Licence
  • Reliable motor vehicle
  • Comprehensive Car Insurance
  • Legal right to work in Australia
  • An industry relevant qualification at Certificate 3 level or higher

Highly Regarded

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Individual Support, Disability or Community Services
  • Nursing, Psychology, Social Work or Allied Health qualifications (or current study)
  • Experience supporting participants with psychosocial disability
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • Personal care experience
  • Medication competency
  • Behaviour support experience
  • Experience mental health and complex support needs
