Disability Support Worker / Mental Health Support Worker

About the role

Labyrinth Supports Pty Ltd is seeking compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers and Mental Health Support Workers to join our team in Perth, Western Australia. This is a casual position offering flexibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities and mental health needs. As a support worker, you will be at the heart of our mission to provide person-centred care and assistance to members of our community. This role is based across Perth and offers the chance to work in a dynamic and supportive environment.

What you'll be doing

• Providing direct personal care and support to individuals with disabilities and mental health conditions, including assistance with daily living activities such as hygiene, grooming, meals and medication management
• Supporting participants in accessing community facilities, attending appointments and engaging in social and recreational activities
• Developing and maintaining positive relationships with participants, families and colleagues, demonstrating empathy and cultural sensitivity at all times
• Assisting with household tasks, shopping and errands as required
• Supporting clients to develop life skills and promote their independence within a safe and supportive environment
• Maintaining accurate and confidential records of support provided
• Communicating effectively to ensure coordinated and consistent care
• Responding to participants needs with patience and respect, adapting your approach to meet individual requirements
• Promoting dignity, choice and autonomy for all participants whilst maintaining professional boundaries
• Contributing to a positive workplace culture and participating in team meetings and training sessions

What we're looking for

• Someone who has genuine passion for supporting individuals and a commitment to person-centred care

• Previous experience working in disability support, mental health services, aged care or a related community services field (desirable but not essential for the right candidate)

• Strong communication skills with the ability to listen actively and respond to individual needs with empathy and respect

• Capable to assist clients with personal care and mobility (if required)

• Reliability and punctuality

• A current or willingness to obtain an NDIS Workers Screening, Working With Children (WWC) and appropriate police clearance

• Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain it

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team, following instructions and reporting concerns appropriately

• Flexibility to work varied hours, including potential weekends and public holidays, as required

• A valid driver's licence and a car with fully comprehensive car insurance

• Willing to complete training
