About the role
The Discipleship Pastor is a motivated and actively involved leader of leaders who will be primarily responsible for leading the Discipleship ministry at Crossroads. The role contributes to the leadership, development, and growth of Crossroads as a community that is equipped and fully committed to following Jesus. This is a 40 hours per week position reporting to the Lead Pastor.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership, vision, and direction for discipleship across Crossroads. Develop and implement pathways that help people take their next step in following Jesus, from new believers through to mature disciples.
- Provide leadership, administration, and support for the Connect Groups. Recruit, equip, encourage, and develop Connect Group leaders. Ensure healthy, growing groups that foster spiritual growth, biblical community, and pastoral care.
- Provide oversight, encouragement, and strategic direction to the Men's and Women's Ministry leadership teams. Ensure these ministries align with the vision and discipleship strategy of Crossroads and provide opportunities for spiritual growth, connection, and service.
- Provide effective pastoral care across the Crossroads community through visitation, prayer, support, and follow-up, in partnership with staff, Elders, and ministry leaders. Create and lead a trained and mobilised team of volunteers to ensure that individuals who are not part of a Connect Group are also appropriately cared for during significant life events and times of need.
- Work collaboratively with the Lead Pastor in the development and delivery of biblical teaching. Participate in preaching, teaching, discipleship courses, leadership development, and other teaching opportunities that help people grow in their faith and understanding of Scripture.
- Maintain effective systems, processes, and communication for discipleship ministries. Assist in planning, budgeting, reporting, and evaluating ministry effectiveness to ensure alignment with the vision and strategic direction of Crossroads.
- Participate as a team member within the Crossroads pastoral and administrative staff, fostering strong teamwork, unity, and shared purpose.
- Provide thoughtful, prayerful, and well-researched input that contributes to the spiritual direction, vision, and strategic development of Crossroads Church.
- Ensure the vision and strategic direction developed by the Elders and Pastors is effectively implemented across all areas of ministry.
- Maintain personal spiritual growth and development, with God-given gifts and abilities actively developed and faithfully utilised in ministry and leadership.
