Position Overview

The Discovery Host is the welcoming face of My World Discovery Museum and the Museum of Clean! As the first point of contact for guests, Discovery Hosts help create a positive, friendly, and memorable experience from the moment visitors walk through our doors.

This position serves both museums, assisting guests with admissions, memberships, general information, and daily front desk operations. Discovery Hosts help ensure every guest feels welcomed, informed, and excited to explore all that our museums have to offer.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Hospitality

• Warmly greet and welcome all guests entering the museums.
• Create a friendly, inclusive, and positive environment for visitors of all ages and abilities.
• Answer questions about museum exhibits, activities, programs, events, and general information.
• Help guests navigate both museums and understand what their admission includes.
• Provide excellent customer service and assist with guest concerns in a professional and courteous manner.

Admissions & Memberships

• Process daily admissions, memberships, and other front desk transactions accurately.
• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and handle cash and electronic payments responsibly.
• Explain membership options, benefits, and current promotions.
• Assist guests with membership purchases and renewals.
• Maintain accurate admission counts and follow established transaction procedures.

Museum Knowledge & Communication

• Develop a general understanding of both museums, including exhibits, hours, programs, and special events.
• Share information about upcoming activities and encourage guests to participate.
• Answer incoming phone calls and direct questions or messages to the appropriate team member.
• Communicate important guest information, concerns, and operational needs to museum leadership.

Front Desk Operations

• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk and entrance area.
• Keep admission materials, brochures, and guest information stocked and accessible.
• Follow opening and closing procedures for the front desk.
• Assist with monitoring guest traffic and maintaining an orderly entrance area.
• Follow museum policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
• Complete assigned front desk tasks and assist with other guest-facing duties as needed.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
