Job Summary

Tom’s Restaurant is seeking a dependable and hardworking Dishwasher to support its kitchen team. The ideal candidate will help maintain clean dishes, sanitized equipment, and an organized kitchen throughout busy service periods. This role is suitable for someone who takes pride in cleanliness, follows food safety procedures, and works well with cooks and other restaurant staff.

Responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils.
• Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Keep the dishwashing station clean, organized, and stocked.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, sinks, equipment, and food preparation areas.
• Remove garbage and dispose of waste according to restaurant procedures.
• Return clean dishes and utensils to their designated storage areas.
• Assist kitchen staff with basic preparation and cleaning tasks when needed.
• Monitor dishwashing supplies and report shortages to the supervisor.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety guidelines.
• Assist with opening, closing, and general kitchen cleaning duties.

Qualifications

• Previous dishwashing or restaurant experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Strong attention to cleanliness and sanitation.
• Dependable, punctual, and willing to work as part of a team.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift routine kitchen supplies.
• Willingness to follow instructions and established safety procedures.
• Availability for scheduled shifts, including weekends and holidays when needed.

Tom’s Restaurant is a long-running, family-friendly diner located in Manhattan’s Morningside Heights neighborhood near Columbia University. The restaurant is known for its classic American diner atmosphere, all-day breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, Greek-inspired dishes, and traditional desserts. Its kitchen team helps maintain food quality, cleanliness, and efficient service for neighborhood customers and visitors.

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36.0 per week
