Dispatch Operative

Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Dispatch Operative to join our dynamic logistics team. In this vital role, you will coordinate the movement of goods, manage warehouse operations, and ensure timely delivery and receipt of materials. Duties

• Operate forklifts safely to load, unload, and transport materials within the warehouse and yard areas
• Use warehouse management systems (WMS) such as AS400 to track inventory, process shipments, and update stock records accurately
• Handle materials efficiently, including stocking shelves, picking orders, packing items for shipment, and preparing goods for dispatch
• Manage shipping and receiving processes by verifying inbound and outbound shipments against documentation
• Load and unload trucks with heavy lifting equipment while adhering to safety protocols
• Coordinate with drivers and carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries in a timely manner
• Conduct regular stock checks, inventory audits, and yard inspections to ensure accuracy and security
• Maintain mechanical knowledge for basic troubleshooting of warehouse equipment and machinery
• Support construction-related activities by handling specialized materials and understanding site-specific requirements

Experience

• Proven warehouse experience with a strong understanding of materials handling procedures
• Valid forklift certification with demonstrated ability to operate forklifts safely
• Experience working with warehouse management systems such as AS400 or similar platforms
• Mechanical knowledge related to warehouse equipment or construction tools is highly desirable
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely for extended periods during busy periods
• Prior experience in shipping & receiving operations or logistics coordination is preferred
• Familiarity with stock management, picking & packing processes, and load & unload procedures

Pay: £25,420.00-£100,000.00 per year
