Dispatch Team leader

About the role

Stallion Plastics Ltd is seeking a Dispatch Team Leader to join our operations in Palmerston North Central Manawatu. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to lead and manage our dispatch team, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. As Dispatch Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our dispatch function, including team management, operational excellence, and maintaining high standards of service delivery. This role is crucial to our success, as effective dispatch management directly impacts customer satisfaction and our overall business performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and manage the dispatch team, ensuring staff are motivated, trained and performing to required standards
• Plan and coordinate all dispatch operations to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers
• Monitor team performance against key metrics and targets, implementing improvements where necessary
• Manage scheduling, resource allocation and workload distribution among team members
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies and operational procedures
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to dispatch activities, shipments and deliveries
• Communicate effectively with other departments including manufacturing, sales and customer service to ensure seamless operations
• Identify and resolve operational issues promptly to minimise disruptions to service
• Conduct regular team briefings, training sessions and performance reviews
• Support the continuous improvement of dispatch processes and systems

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in a supervisory or team leader role, preferably in a dispatch, logistics or warehousing environment
• Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members
• Excellent organisational and time management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities
• Sound knowledge of dispatch operations, inventory management and delivery logistics
• Proficiency with dispatch management systems and relevant software applications
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise effectively at all levels
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation
• Health and safety awareness with the ability to promote a safe working environment
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
• Forklift certification.
• Experience in the manufacturing or plastics industry is preferred but not essential
