Description Of Work Are you someone who thrives under pressure, cares deeply about helping others, and enjoys using technology to solve real-world problems? Join our team as a Dispatcher and play a vital role in keeping our UNL community safe. You’ll be the critical link between callers in need and emergency responders—making a difference every shift.

What You’ll Do

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and EMS services
• Use multi-line phones, radio systems, and computer-aided dispatch ( CAD ) tools to coordinate rapid response
• Communicate clearly and calmly with callers and first responders during high-stress situations
• Relay essential information to public safety officials and partner agencies
• Maintain accurate records and reports
• Complete six months of paid training

Minimum Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience with customer service and computers
• Typing speed of 30+ words per minute
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet University driver eligibility criteria

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience, training or coursework related to public safety or communications preferred but not required.
