Dispatcher

The Lee County Council on Aging is seeking a dependable, organized, and customer-focused Dispatcher to coordinate transportation services for older adults and individuals with disabilities throughout Lee County.

The Dispatcher plays an important role in helping our clients get to medical appointments, grocery stores, community activities, and other essential destinations. This position involves answering calls, scheduling rides, coordinating drivers, maintaining accurate records, and helping ensure transportation services operate safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and assist clients with transportation requests.
• Schedule and coordinate client rides
• Communicate daily schedules and changes to drivers.
• Monitor transportation schedules and help resolve scheduling conflicts or unexpected changes.
• Maintain accurate daily transportation records, including trip counts, mileage, and required documentation.
• Notify the appropriate staff of driver call-offs, delays, and other scheduling issues.
• Help ensure transportation records are completed accurately and submitted as required.
• Communicate professionally and courteously with clients, drivers, staff, and the public.
• Follow agency policies and applicable transportation requirements.
• Assist with lunch coverage and other transportation-related duties as needed.
• Support the overall mission of the Lee County Council on Aging by helping older adults and individuals with disabilities maintain independence and access essential services.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and telephone skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and remain calm when schedules change.
• Basic computer skills, including data entry and maintaining records.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Dependable, punctual, and professional.
• Patient and respectful when working with older adults and individuals with disabilities.
• Previous dispatching, scheduling, customer service, or office experience preferred.
• Experience with transportation scheduling or recordkeeping is a plus.
• Willingness to learn agency procedures and transportation reporting requirements.

Work Environment

This is an in-person position at the Lee County Council on Aging in Dixon, Illinois. The Dispatcher works with drivers and other staff to coordinate daily transportation services and help ensure clients receive dependable, courteous service.
