Dispenser

The Dispenser will be responsible for the safe and accurate dispensing of medicines to patients in accordance with prescriptions, clinical protocols, and SHINE Humanity’s pharmacy procedures. The position will also support proper medicine storage, inventory control, documentation, and coordination with the Pharmacy Incharge and clinic team.

Key Responsibilities

Medicine Dispensing

• Dispense medicines accurately against prescriptions issued by authorized medical staff.
• Explain dosage, frequency, duration, and basic instructions for medicine use to patients.
• Verify the medicine, strength, quantity, expiry date, and prescription before dispensing.
• Ensure that medicines are not dispensed without an appropriate prescription or authorization.
• Identify and report any discrepancy, unclear prescription, damaged medicine, or suspected medication error to the Pharmacy Incharge/concerned medical officer.

Inventory and Stock Management

• Maintain proper records of medicines received, issued, returned, damaged, and expired.
• Ensure medicines are stored appropriately and according to required storage conditions.
• Regularly check expiry dates and ensure near-expiry and expired medicines are identified and segregated.
• Assist with periodic stock counts and physical verification.
• Immediately report shortages, excesses, damaged stock, or discrepancies to the Pharmacy Incharge.
• Follow the First-Expiry-First-Out (FEFO) principle for medicine issuance.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate dispensing registers, stock records, and other pharmacy-related documentation.
• Ensure all medicine issues are properly recorded and traceable.
• Support preparation of periodic pharmacy and stock reports.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and pharmacy records.

Patient Support

• Deal with patients respectfully and professionally.
• Provide clear and appropriate instructions regarding prescribed medicines.
• Refer medical or clinical questions beyond the scope of the role to the Medical Officer or relevant clinical staff.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and patient-friendly dispensing area.

Compliance and Coordination

• Follow SHINE Humanity’s pharmacy policies, SOPs, infection prevention procedures, and other applicable protocols.
• Work under the direction of the Pharmacy Incharge and coordinate with the Clinic Supervisor and Medical Officer as required.
• Comply with instructions issued by the Pharmacy Incharge regarding pharmacy operations and medicine management.
• Participate in pharmacy audits, stock inspections, trainings, and monitoring activities.
• Immediately report any suspected misuse, loss, unauthorized access, or irregularity involving medicines or pharmacy records.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Pharmacy / Dispenary/Pharmacy Technician qualification or relevant recognized qualification.
• Valid registration/licence with the relevant regulatory authority, where applicable.
• Previous experience in a hospital, clinic, pharmacy, NGO, or community healthcare setting will be preferred.
• Knowledge of medicine dispensing, storage, inventory management, and basic pharmacy procedures.
• Basic computer and record-keeping skills.

Pay: Rs35,000.00 - Rs50,000.00 per month
