Dispensing Optician

Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented GOC registered Dispensing Optician to join our dynamic optical team. In this vital role, you will serve as the bridge between patients and their vision care needs, providing expert assistance in selecting eyewear, verifying prescriptions, and ensuring a seamless customer experience. Y

Duties

• Assist patients in choosing eyewear that fits their prescription, style preferences, and lifestyle needs
• Verify and interpret optical prescriptions provided by optometrists or ophthalmologists
• Conduct measurements such as pupillary distance and frame fitting to ensure proper lens placement
• Provide guidance on lens options, coatings, and frame materials to enhance vision and comfort
• Maintain laboratory experience by assisting with lens edging, mounting, and adjustments when necessary
• Educate patients on proper eyewear care, maintenance, and warranty policies
• Ensure all dispensing activities comply with health and safety regulations, including anatomy knowledge for fitting procedures
• Manage inventory of frames, lenses, and accessories to ensure availability of popular styles and sizes

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of human anatomy related to eye health and eyewear fitting techniques
• Excellent communication skills to effectively educate and assist diverse customers
• Ability to interpret complex prescriptions accurately and explain technical information clearly
• Attention to detail for precise measurements and quality control during dispensing process.
