We’re looking for a GOC-registered Dispensing Optician to join our growing Optical team at Feel Good Contacts, one of the UK’s leading online eyewear retailers.

This is an exciting opportunity to use your optical expertise across customer support, quality assurance, training and product development, helping ensure our customers receive accurate optical advice and an excellent online shopping experience.

You’ll work closely with a team of Dispensing Opticians based in our office, collaborating to provide specialist optical support, maintain quality standards and ensure our customers receive accurate advice and an excellent online shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

Optical Support & Quality Assurance

• Verify optical orders and prescriptions for accuracy, suitability and compliance with relevant professional requirements.
• Provide specialist optical support to Optical Advisors handling customer enquiries via telephone, LiveChat and email.
• Support the resolution of complex optical queries, prescription-related questions, lens suitability concerns, complaints and product issues.
• Monitor and audit Optical Advisors’ handling of customer queries, providing feedback and guidance to improve accuracy and service quality.
• Inspect and adjust frames before dispatch, where required.

Training & Development

• Deliver ongoing training to new starters and existing Optical Advisors and wider team to keep their optical knowledge and product understanding up to date.
• Develop and maintain training materials, guidance documents and procedures to support consistent and accurate customer advice.
• Identify knowledge gaps and recommend improvements through regular quality audits and feedback.

Website, Marketing & Product Support

• Review marketing materials, website content, product descriptions, FAQs and online optical guidance to ensure all optical information is factually accurate and up to date before publication.
• Support product development, new launches and improvements to the online customer experience.
• Monitor and report on quality trends, recurring customer queries, common errors and training needs, recommending improvements to processes and customer service.
• Keep up to date with relevant GOC and ABDO guidance, optical products, lenses and industry developments.

What We’re Looking For

• Valid GOC registration as a Dispensing Optician.
• Strong optical dispensing and laboratory experience.
• Good knowledge of prescriptions, lenses, frames and optical products.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.
• Confidence providing technical guidance, training and constructive feedback.
• A proactive, organised team player with a passion for eyewear and customer service.

Working Hours & Flexibility

• Monday to Thursday: Office-based.
• Fridays and alternate Saturdays: Option to work from home, with attendance at the office in the afternoon for required optical checks.
• Sundays: Approximately 1–2 Sundays per month on a rota, working remotely for up to 4 hours to approve pending prescriptions. Hours are flexible, provided the work is completed before 10:00 pm. A half-day in lieu is provided for each Sunday worked.
• Shift patterns: 8:00 am–5:30 pm, 9:00 am–5:30 pm, 9:30 am–6:00 pm or 10:00 am–6:30 pm.
