Distinguished Architect

For our client, we are seeking a Distinguished Architect to join the team of a leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods space.

This role will shape enterprise technology direction for a dynamic digital commerce environment, ensuring architectural decisions support both near-term delivery and long-term scalability. You will partner closely with product, engineering, and security leaders to strengthen the foundations behind new capabilities while guiding modernization across distributed systems and cloud platforms. The position will also help define governance, reduce technical risk, and improve operational readiness across the organization.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $183,600 – $306,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the enterprise technology architecture to align with business strategy.
• Translate business priorities into actionable architectural choices and investment roadmaps.
• Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to ensure robust foundations for new capabilities.
• Lead architecture governance to streamline decision-making and accelerate team progress.
• Identify and prioritize systemic technology risks and performance bottlenecks.
• Shape a multi-year investment strategy for platform modernization and technical debt reduction.
• Set expectations for service reliability and operational readiness in partnership with engineering and security teams.

Qualifications

• Deep technical leadership experience in a complex digital or e-commerce environment.
• Proven track record in large-scale architecture modernization across distributed systems and cloud platforms.
• Expertise in designing resilient, scalable, and secure systems with a focus on operational excellence.
• Strong judgment in balancing immediate product delivery with long-term platform health.
• Experience establishing architecture principles and governance practices that enhance team autonomy.
• Fluency in cloud-native engineering, APIs, data platforms, and AI foundations.
• Exceptional communication skills to influence diverse stakeholders.
