Distribution Dispatcher

Pearson Sales Company is currently seeking a dispatcher to join our dynamic team in Pomona, CA.

The dispatcher is responsible for routing and dispatching a fleet of company drivers locally and for providing continuous support to that work group. The dispatcher arranges schedules for drivers, communicates with the shipping department to ensure timeliness of loads readiness for shipment. The dispatcher is responsible for maximizing all truckloads by combining multiple orders. The dispatch team schedule inbound and outbound freight daily and maintain communication with interested parties throughout the delivery process.

Responsibilities:

Dispatching & Route Optimization:

• Plan and optimize daily routes for freight trucks to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
• Dispatch drivers to appropriate locations based on delivery schedules and load requirements.
• Monitor traffic and road conditions to anticipate and address potential delays.
• Make real-time adjustments to routes and schedules as needed.

Driver Communication & Support:

• Maintain consistent communication with drivers throughout their shifts via phone, radio, or tracking software.
• Provide clear instructions and support to drivers regarding routes, delivery instructions, and any issues encountered.
• Address driver inquiries and resolve operational issues promptly.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate dispatch records, including driver logs, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery confirmations.
• Generate daily, weekly, or monthly reports on dispatch activities, efficiency, and performance metrics.

Compliance & Safety:

• Ensure all dispatching activities comply with federal, state, and local transportation regulations (e.g., DOT, HOS).
• Promote safe driving practices and report any safety concerns.

Problem-Solving:

• Proactively identify and resolve logistical challenges, unexpected delays, and equipment issues.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of verifiable experience as a Truck Dispatcher or in a similar transportation logistics role.
• Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, including DOT and HOS (Hours of Service).
• Proficiency in using dispatching software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
• Excellent geographical knowledge of Southern California and surrounding areas.
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a calm demeanor under pressure.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Samsara.
• Knowledge of freight types handled by Pearson Sales Company- LTL
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.

SHIFT: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
