About Us

Finchley Studios is an established media company with 12 years of experience in business, production and distribution. Our projects include podcasts, interviews, branded content, social media videos, educational content, documentaries and TV productions.

We’re looking for an experienced, technically skilled and highly organised Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) & Video Editor to manage footage and deliver high-quality post-production across a wide range of projects.

You should have substantial editing experience, including multicamera podcasts, green screen productions, short-form content and longer-form videos. Strong audio skills are essential, including the ability to mix complex productions with up to 20 participants and multiple microphone tracks.

Camera operating experience is desirable but not essential.

What You’ll Be DoingDIT & Media Management

  • Securely offload footage and audio from camera cards, recording devices and client uploads.
  • Create and verify backups using appropriate tools and checksum verification.
  • Confirm media is safely transferred and backed up before cards are cleared under studio procedures.
  • Check incoming recordings for missing files, recording faults and technical issues.
  • Maintain clear folder structures, naming conventions, media logs and version control.
  • Create proxies, transcode footage and synchronise multiple camera and audio sources.
  • Keep original media, proxies and project files correctly linked.
  • Follow secure storage, archiving and retrieval procedures.

Video Editing & Post-Production

  • Edit podcasts, interviews, branded videos, promotional campaigns, educational content, documentaries and social media videos.
  • Turn raw footage into polished edits with clear storytelling, strong pacing and consistent continuity.
  • Edit multicamera productions and create full-length programmes, trailers, highlights and short clips.
  • Apply colour correction and grading for a consistent, professional finish.
  • Add titles, captions, subtitles, graphics, music and effects.
  • Adapt content for different platforms, durations and aspect ratios.
  • Manage feedback and revisions while meeting agreed deadlines.

Green Screen & Podcast Editing

  • Edit multicamera video podcasts and audio-only episodes, maintaining accurate synchronisation and natural conversational flow.
  • Produce clean green screen keys, control spill and integrate subjects into backgrounds or virtual sets.
  • Refine composites using masks, tracking and edge adjustments where needed.
  • Create finished episodes and captioned clips ready for publication.

Audio Editing & Complex Sound Mixing

  • Edit and mix complex recordings involving up to 20 participants, working confidently with multiple microphones and isolated audio tracks.
  • Manage overlapping dialogue, microphone bleed, phase issues and differing recording levels while keeping speech clear and natural.
  • Select and balance microphone tracks, automate levels and maintain consistent sound across speakers.
  • Reduce background noise and apply EQ, compression, de-essing and other processing appropriately.
  • Mix dialogue, music and effects for podcasts, interviews, panel discussions and other productions.
  • Identify and resolve audio synchronisation issues and check final mixes for loudness, clarity and consistency.

File Delivery & Client Communication

  • Export drafts and final files to the specifications required by YouTube, social media, podcast platforms and clients.
  • Upload deliverables and share clearly labelled, accessible links.
  • Check file formats, permissions and upload completion before sharing.
  • Track feedback, revisions and approvals.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and colleagues about briefs, progress and deadlines.
  • Handle client footage and confidential material responsibly.

Workflow & Quality Control

  • Manage multiple projects and prioritise work against agreed deadlines.
  • Work closely with the studio team to understand creative and technical requirements.
  • Review exports for editing errors, missing media, spelling, captions, audio sync, colour and playback issues.
  • Troubleshoot media, software and export problems.
  • Prepare organised project files for handover and future revisions.
  • Help improve media management and post-production workflows.

Camera & Production Support — Desirable

  • Assist with camera setup and operation where you have relevant experience.
  • Support framing, exposure, white balance and consistent camera settings.
  • Help identify recording issues that could affect post-production.

Camera operating experience is an advantage, but applicants with excellent editing, sound mixing and DIT skills will be considered without it.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Substantial professional video editing experience, supported by a strong portfolio or showreel.
  • Proven experience across podcasts, interviews, social media videos, branded content and longer-form productions.
  • Practical experience in green screen compositing and multicamera podcast editing.
  • Demonstrable ability to edit and mix complex audio recordings with up to 20 participants and multiple microphone tracks.
  • Strong understanding of dialogue editing, microphone bleed, phase alignment, noise reduction, EQ, compression and loudness.
  • Hands-on experience with DIT or equivalent media management workflows, including verified transfers, backups, proxies and archiving.
  • Advanced proficiency in at least one major editing platform, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro.
  • Confident use of professional audio software such as Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, DaVinci Resolve Fairlight, Reaper or an equivalent platform.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects or equivalent compositing and motion graphics software.
  • Strong colour correction and grading skills.
  • Understanding of codecs, resolutions, frame rates, aspect ratios, colour spaces and export settings.
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail and file management.
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems and take projects through to delivery.
  • Strong written and spoken English, including professional client communication.
  • Ability to respond constructively to feedback and manage competing deadlines.
  • Availability to work onsite during weekdays and weekends, including outside standard hours when required.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Camera setup and operating experience.
  • Familiarity with studio lighting, location sound recording and multitrack recording systems.
  • Experience with log footage, LUTs and colour-managed workflows.
  • Advanced motion graphics or visual effects skills.
  • Experience using shared storage, cloud delivery and review platforms.
  • A qualification in Film Studies, Media Production, Audio Engineering or a related subject, or equivalent practical experience.
