About Metalsa
At Metalsa, we are a global company with 65+ years of experience in the automotive industry . We manufacture safe and sustainable products for people around the world.
We are working for a better future where we enrich communities every day by being committed to people, innovation and our planet.
About the Role
We are seeking a Diversification Manufacturing Process Engineer to define and validate manufacturing concepts for new products and growth opportunities beyond Metalsa’s established production processes. This role translates customer and product requirements into feasible joining, forming, and assembly processes, including equipment, tooling, material flow, cycle time, and capacity assumptions.
Working across a multi-customer, multi-product diversification portfolio, the position provides the technical foundation for quotations and business cases and transfers validated process concepts to prototype and industrialization teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess manufacturing feasibility and define process routes, equipment, tooling, assembly sequences, and material flow for new products.
- Develop and defend manufacturing cost, cycle-time, capacity, and investment assumptions for quotations and business cases.
- Define industrialization requirements and hand off process concepts, supporting resolution of process issues during build and ramp-up.
- Identify manufacturing risks, capability gaps, and alternative process or make-versus-buy solutions.
- Evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities and support sourcing decisions.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, Procurement, and Finance to align technical concepts and investment needs.
- Document process learnings and develop reusable manufacturing standards for future growth opportunities.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 8+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experience, including joining, forming, or assembly process design.
- Proven experience defining processes for new products, launches, or industrialization—not only supporting existing production.
- Experience developing technical inputs for quotations, cost estimates, and business cases.
- Strong knowledge of MIG/MAG welding, forming and stamping, assembly and fixturing, process flow, cycle-time and capacity modeling.
- Ability to evaluate manufacturing costs, CAPEX, process constraints, and make-versus-buy alternatives.
- Experience collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and finance without direct authority.
- Automotive or metal-mechanical manufacturing experience, supplier assessment experience, or a relevant master’s degree is a plus.
