What they need
As a Diversional Therapist, you'll help create a vibrant and engaging environment where older people feel valued, connected and supported. From developing personalised lifestyle programs to partnering with residents, families and colleagues, you'll contribute to experiences that enhance wellbeing and bring meaning to everyday life.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
- Designing and delivering engaging recreational and social programs that support wellbeing, dignity and quality of life.
- Building strong relationships with residents, families and team members to create person-centred experiences and achieve meaningful outcomes.
- Monitoring, evaluating and adapting activities to meet changing needs, preferences and goals.
- Promoting participation, connection and inclusion while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
Let's Talk About You
You're someone who brings compassion, creativity and genuine care to everything you do. You understand that meaningful activities can have a lasting impact on a person's wellbeing, confidence and sense of belonging. Whether you're encouraging social connection, supporting individual choices or adapting programs to meet changing needs, you take pride in creating experiences that make each day better. You're not just here to deliver activities, you're here to help people live well, stay connected and feel valued.
Here's what will help you thrive in this role:
- Certificate IV in Leisure and Health, a related qualification, or progress towards completion.
- Experience designing, delivering and evaluating person-centred recreational or lifestyle programs.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Excellent organisation, initiative and problem-solving skills, with a focus on safe, quality outcomes.
You'll stand out from the crowd if you have experience in aged care or rural healthcare settings and/or knowledge of aged care quality standards and funding frameworks.
Above all, you'll bring Compassion, Integrity, Dignity, Innovation and Courage, helping create meaningful moments that enhance the lives of others.
