What they need

Mō te tūranga | About the role

This is a standout leadership opportunity in Hawke's Bay for someone with strong water sector experience who wants to make a genuine impact. As Divisional Manager - 3 Waters, you'll lead the Hastings District Council 3 Waters Maintenance contract and a business delivering essential lifeline infrastructure across the region - from source to sea - keeping taps running, toilets flushing and drains doing what they should.

You'll own the division's contribution to the regional business plan across financial performance, safety, people leadership, forward work, operational delivery and customer relationships. It's a role with real scope, autonomy and the chance to shape growth and continuous improvement. If you're considering a move, this role comes with a generous relocation package to help make that transition easier. And Hawke's Bay has a lot going for it - great weather, beaches, wineries, cycle trails, strong schools, shorter commutes and a lifestyle that gives you more room to breathe while still doing big, meaningful work.

Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities

  • Lead the division and HDC 3 Waters Maintenance Contract to deliver safe, high-quality work for customers, on time and within budget.
  • Drive financial performance through strong business planning, budgeting, forecasting, capex and divisional targets.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of forward work through pricing, tendering, customer engagement and smart commercial decisions.
  • Grow strong relationships with customers, subcontractors and suppliers while managing risk and identifying opportunity.
  • Lead and develop your team by setting clear expectations, backing people to perform and creating a culture of accountability, safety and good work.

Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi e whai ana i ēnei pūkenga | We're looking for someone with

  • Proven leadership experience in 3 waters, civil contracting, civil construction or infrastructure, with a strong track record of operational and commercial delivery.
  • Strong relationship skills and the confidence to work closely with clients, understand what matters to them and negotiate practical commercial outcomes.
  • Solid contracting and commercial knowledge, including a sound understanding of NZS3910 and disciplined contract management.
  • Financial management experience, with the ability to lead against plans, budgets and targets while staying close to performance.
  • A people-first leadership style, a strong safety focus and the ability to build capable teams who work hard, back each other and keep moving forward together.

He pai te mahi, he pai ngā painga | Good work, good benefits

At Fulton Hogan, we genuinely care about the wellbeing of our people and giving them the tools and opportunities they need to succeed and grow with us. You'll have access to:

  • Medical insurance and Life insurance after the eligibility period.
  • KiwiSaver employer contributions after service milestones, up to 7%.
  • Parental leave top up payment with additional return to work support.
  • Ongoing training and development, with clear career growth and progression opportunities.
  • Great discounts at a wide range of retailers.

Ko wai mātou | About us

At Fulton Hogan, Good Work is more than what we deliver. It's how we show up, how we treat each other and how we move forward together. We're flat, friendly and practical, and we back good people to do their best work.

You'll be trusted to lead, make decisions and build a strong team around you. In Hawke's Bay, you'll be joining a region that offers genuine lifestyle upside alongside a big, meaningful role - whether that's weekends at the beach, world-class food and wine, family-friendly communities, or simply trading long commutes for more time doing what matters. It's a place where you can build a great career and a great life at the same time.
