Position Summary

Grayland Distribution & Fulfillment is seeking a hands-on Dock Lead to oversee daily dock operations, coordinate warehouse labor, maintain inventory accuracy, and ensure the safe and efficient movement of freight throughout our facility. This position plays a key leadership role by directing daily workflow, supporting warehouse associates, and helping deliver exceptional service to our customers.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Previous experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control, and team leadership is preferred.

Responsibilities - Warehouse Operations

• Coordinate and oversee daily loading and unloading activities.
• Pick, verify, stage, and prepare outbound LTL and FTL shipments.
• Receive inbound freight and coordinate putaway into designated storage locations.
• Assist with customer pickups and professionally greet visitors.
• Plan daily workflow and assign warehouse labor based on operational priorities.
• Monitor dock activity to maximize productivity and on-time shipments.
• Process and maintain accurate inventory transactions within the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
• Monitor inventory movement including receiving, transfers, staging, putaway, and shipping.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Perform cycle counts and assist with inventory audits.
• Generate and review operational reports related to receiving, shipping, inventory, and labor.
• Communicate operational issues, delays, and staffing needs to warehouse leadership.

Responsibilities - Leadership & Safety

• Lead by example while promoting teamwork, accountability, and organization.
• Enforce company safety policies and warehouse procedures.
• Conduct or assist with safety training and reinforce safe work practices.
• Report equipment damage, safety concerns, and operational issues promptly.

Responsibilities - Warehouse Support

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dock, staging, and yard area.
• Ensure paperwork and system transactions are completed accurately and on time.
• Support receiving, shipping, inventory, prep, and other warehouse operations as business needs require.
• Provide daily operational updates to warehouse leadership.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of warehouse, shipping, receiving, or dock operations experience.
• Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Forklift certification and experience preferred.
• Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Strong understanding of inventory control, cycle counting, and warehouse processes.
• Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
