Must reside within 60 miles of our St. Louis Office

Position Overview

Tucker Ellis LLP is seeking an experienced Docket Specialist to join our team in St. Louis, Missouri. This position will support our Litigation Department by managing and maintaining the firm’s litigation calendar and docketing system to ensure compliance with all court rules and deadlines.

The ideal candidate will have prior law firm docketing experience, preferably within a litigation practice, and possess strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to managing deadlines.

This position is primarily remote, but the candidate must reside in the St. Louis area and be willing to work onsite in the St. Louis office from time to time for meetings, training, team collaboration, and other business needs. While the role offers significant remote flexibility, occasional onsite attendance is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enter, track, and monitor all critical dates, deadlines, and events for litigation matters in accordance with local, state, and federal court rules.
  • Review and analyze court filings, correspondence, and orders to ensure accurate docket entries.
  • Maintain and update the firm’s docketing database, verifying accuracy and completeness of data.
  • Distribute daily and weekly docket reports to attorneys, paralegals, and staff.
  • Research and interpret applicable procedural rules to confirm correct calculation of deadlines.
  • Communicate regularly with attorneys and staff to ensure timely awareness of upcoming due dates.
  • Support the development and maintenance of docketing procedures and best practices.
  • Assist with training new users on docketing systems and processes as needed.
  • Coordinate with IT and practice support teams to resolve docketing or software-related issues.
  • Perform other administrative or litigation support duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of docketing experience in a law firm environment, supporting litigation. Experience in intellectual property docketing alone will not meet this requirement.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong knowledge of state, federal, and appellate court rules and procedures.
  • Experience using docketing or calendaring systems such as CourtAlert is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage high volumes of deadlines and data.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and PDF editing software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must reside in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
  • Must be willing and able to work onsite at the St. Louis office periodically as business needs require.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily remote position based in the St. Louis area.
  • Periodic onsite attendance at the St. Louis office is required for meetings, training, collaboration, and other business needs.
  • While training during the first 90 days, additional onsite time may be required.
  • Standard office environment with regular computer and database use.
  • Occasional extended hours may be required based on business needs or filing deadlines.
