Dog Bather

Core Responsibilities

• Bathing and Drying: Shampoo, condition, rinse, and dry dog coats using specialized towels and high-velocity dryers.
• Hygienic Care: Trim and file nails, clean ears, brush teeth, and express anal glands when necessary.
• Health and Parasite Checks: Inspect skin, coats, and ears for matting, hot spots, ticks, fleas, infections, or abnormal lumps.
• Behavioral Management: Handle nervous, elderly, or uncooperative dogs safely while reading canine body language to reduce stress.
• Client Communication: Discuss grooming goals with pet owners, provide coat maintenance advice, and schedule follow-up appointments.
• Station Maintenance: Sanitize tools, tubs, tables, and salon or mobile van environments between clients. [Qualifications and Skills, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10]
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long shifts and lift or maneuver dogs of all sizes (frequently up to 50 pounds or more).
• Technical Proficiency: Experience operating electric clippers, shears, dremels, and stripping knives (Can learn)
• Animal Knowledge: Familiarity with various dog coat types (curly, wire, double-coated, silky) and breed standards.(Can learn)
• Patience and Empathy: Calm, reassuring demeanor to soothe frightened or high-energy animals.
• Education and Training: High school diploma or GED, paired with hands-on apprenticeship or completion of a program like those recognized by the National Dog
• Settings: Traditional local pet salons, corporate retail stores, mobile grooming vans, boarding kennels, or veterinary clinics.
• Conditions: High noise levels from dryers, wet floors, strong pet-shampoo odors, and physical movement throughout the day.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8.0 per week
