Dog Bather

About Bark & Bone

Bark & Bone is a Carmel grooming salon on a mission to elevate the well-being of every dog through exceptional grooming, wholesome nutrition, and outstanding customer experiences.

The Role

We're hiring a Dog Bather to join our grooming team. You'll bathe, dry, and brush dogs of all sizes and personalities and keep our bathing area clean. The work is rewarding and physical, so it suits someone who loves dogs, cares about the details, and doesn't mind getting wet.

What You'll Do

• Bathe and dry dogs to Bark & Bone's standards so every pup leaves clean and fresh
• Handle and restrain dogs gently and confidently
• Follow our bathing and drying protocols for consistent, efficient results
• Regularly clean and sanitize bathing areas, tools, and equipment
• Watch each dog's behavior and well-being, and report any concerns
• Work with the grooming team to meet daily goals and keep the salon running smoothly

What You Bring

• A love of dogs and a real commitment to their well-being
• A strong work ethic and plenty of hustle: you stay on task
• Experience in pet bathing, grooming, or animal care is a plus, but a positive attitude and eagerness to learn matter just as much
• Patience, empathy, and confidence with dogs of every size, temperament, and energy level
• Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to follow detailed instructions
• Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset

Physical Demands and Environment

You'll lift and carry up to 50 pounds (dogs, equipment, and supplies) and spend long stretches standing, bending, and moving. Expect repetitive work like scrubbing, brushing, drying, and cleaning in a wet, fast-paced, sometimes noisy salon, with plenty of water, pet hair, and grooming products. You'll be around dogs all day and clients now and then.

Schedule and Location

Part-time and full-time positions are available, and you can tell us whether you'd rather work 5 or 8 hour shifts. Open availability is required, including one weekend day per week, and we may ask for extra weekend shifts to cover team members on PTO. This is an in-person role in Carmel, IN 46032.

Pay and Benefits

Pay is $14.00 to $16.00 per hour, plus tips that average $3 to $6 per hour. You'll also get paid time off that accrues from day one, paid training, a uniform allowance, and employee discounts on grooming services and premium pet food. You'll join a supportive, pet-loving team with room to grow your skills in grooming and pet care.
