Domain Expert for Software Development Workspace Setup & Controls

How do you give developers the tools they need while keeping enterprise workstations secure and controlled? In this role, you will tackle that challenge by defining and improving the applications, standards and controls that underpin modern software development.

We are looking for a Domain Expert for Software Development Workspace Setup & Controls to take ownership of developer workstation standards across physical laptops and virtual Windows 365 environments.

Your role

You will define, govern and optimize developer environments, ensuring they are secure, compliant, standardized and automated. Your central goal is to establish an approved set of developer applications across Windows and macOS, supported by controls that prevent unauthorized software from running.

The challenge is to make these controls work alongside the practical needs of software engineers, supporting efficient development workflows within a secure enterprise environment.

What you will do

• Define and maintain standards for developer workstations across Windows and macOS.
• Establish an approved, controlled set of development tools and applications.
• Implement controls to prevent unauthorized software from running on physical and virtual workstations.
• Automate workstation setup and configuration to improve consistency and reduce manual work.
• Govern and improve enterprise developer environments, balancing security, compliance and usability.
• Support integration with development platforms, Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines and container tooling.
• Embed endpoint security, secrets management and certificate management into workspace standards.

What you bring

You have experience in software engineering, endpoint engineering or workplace technology , with a strong understanding of developer needs in enterprise organizations. You have implemented workstation standards and controls at scale and can translate security requirements into practical technical solutions.

Your technical knowledge covers:

Windows environments

• Windows 11 Enterprise and Windows security and compliance controls.
• PowerShell automation.
• Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Hyper-V and virtualization technologies.

macOS environments

• macOS administration and security technologies.
• Jamf Pro and Apple Business Manager.
• Homebrew or Workbrew.
• The Apple developer ecosystem.

Development platforms and tooling

• GitHub Enterprise, Azure DevOps and Git workflows.
• CI/CD integration.
• Container platforms and local development orchestration.

Security

• Endpoint security controls.
• Secrets management.
• Certificate management.
