About Freedom House

Freedom House Thrift is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting mothers and their children through a Christ-centered, long-term recovery program. By creating a nurturing environment for healing and growth, we empower families to rebuild their lives. The proceeds from our thrift store directly fund this mission, offering hope and restoration to those in need.

About the role

This position is at the forefront of donor interactions, ensuring a positive experience for individuals who generously support our mission. The Intake Processor must handle donations with care, communicate effectively and professionally with donors, and uphold the values of Freedom House Thrift. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, physical stamina, and the ability to tactfully decline donations when necessary, while preserving donor goodwill.

What you'll do

Greet donors warmly and provide excellent customer service to ensure a positive and welcoming experience. Accept, sort, and organize donations, maintaining a clean and efficient intake area.
  • Communication & Donation Guidelines:
Clearly explain donation policies to donors, tactfully declining items that are not in acceptable condition or that the store cannot accept, while maintaining a respectful and appreciative tone.
  • Physical Handling of Donations:
Safely lift and move donations, including furniture, clothing, and other items, weighing up to 50 pounds. Ensure all items are handled with care to protect their quality and value.
  • Mission Support & Representation:
Represent the mission and values of Freedom House Thrift in all donor interactions, fostering goodwill and long-term support for the ministry.
  • Organization & Efficiency:
Keep the intake area well-organized, clean, and free of clutter to promote safety and efficiency in daily operations.

Qualifications

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • A passion for the mission of Freedom House Thrift and a commitment to serving others in a Christian environment.
  • Prior experience in customer service, retail, or donation processing is a plus.

Hours
