What they need
Donor Acquisition Specialist - Great Lakes Wisconsin
Full-Time
Great Lakes Wisconsin partners directly with nonprofit organizations across Wisconsin communities to build their individual donor bases through direct, face-to-face community outreach. We take real pride in representing causes that drive real impact and building a team that carries those missions forward with integrity.
Here is the honest framing of the role: this is a field-based, customer-facing direct sales and fundraising role. At its core, you will be out in the community speaking directly with people and acquiring new recurring donors for our nonprofit partners—we share this upfront so there are no surprises during the interview process.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate face-to-face conversations with community members to educate them on our partner nonprofits' missions.
- Secure new recurring donors and financial support through clear, persuasive, and genuine dialogue.
- Consistently meet individual donor acquisition targets and community engagement goals.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of active campaigns, funding needs, and partner program updates.
- Uphold the brand standards of Great Lakes Wisconsin and our nonprofit clients in every interaction.
Working Environment
- Field-based, face-to-face community outreach.
- Fast-paced, high-energy, and people-first culture.
- Collaborative setting with weekly Friday team meetings and skill-building sessions.
- Proactive role where you initiate conversations and drive engagement throughout the day.
What We're Looking For
- No experience required — comprehensive entry-level donor acquisition training is provided.
- Strong verbal communication, active listening, and rapport-building skills.
- Comfortable approaching people and starting conversations in community settings.
- Resilient, positive attitude suited for a performance-based earning model.
- Genuine passion for supporting nonprofit causes and community impact.
Compensation & Development
- Week 1: Paid training at $15/hour.
- Ongoing Earnings: Uncapped commission earnings, with most specialists earning $40,000+ annually.
- Leadership Path: Room to advance into Senior Specialist, Team Leader (coaching and supporting others), and Assistant Manager/Manager roles. (Leadership adds a 6th day only when you choose to step into it).
- Skill Advancement: Access to in-house training in target research, public speaking, leadership, emotional intelligence, and campaign administration.
Application Process
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Shortlisted candidates will typically be contacted within 1–3 business days for an initial phone screening.
