The role

As a Dosimetry Controller, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to join a small, friendly and highly specialised team supporting one of the UK's most important nuclear facilities. You'll play a key role in helping maintain safe working environments by managing radiation dose monitoring programmes and ensuring robust dosimetry arrangements that support the delivery of critical defence and infrastructure projects. Working within our Naval Nuclear business, you'll develop specialist expertise while contributing to work that directly supports national security and the safe operation of vital facilities.

Day-to-day, you’ll provide essential support to managers across the Devonport site, helping them fulfil their responsibilities to maintain individual and collective radiation doses as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP). You'll work with a wide range of stakeholders, managing dosimetry services, contracts, budgets, monitoring programmes and specialist equipment while ensuring compliance with regulatory and company requirements.

• Operating the Devonport Site Dosimetry System in line with legislation, company requirements and industry best practice.
• Managing dosimetry-related contracts, budgets and associated records using company systems.
• Coordinating and monitoring the site's Radon Monitoring Programme.
• Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Whole-Body Monitor, its operators and associated radioactive sources.
• Maintaining dosimetry equipment and hardware assets, including the use of maintenance management systems.

This role is full-time 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Dosimetry Controller

• Experience in office administration, including the use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Experience working with customers, stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Recent experience administering dosimetry programmes or services.
• Recent experience working within radiation protection or a related regulated environment.
• Experience managing contracts and budgets.

Qualifications for the Dosimetry Controller

Essential:

• GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in Science, Mathematics, English Language and English Literature.

Desirable:

• NVQ in Administration, Customer Service or a related discipline.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
