Metal Fabrication Drafter - Kemlee Manufacturing, Inc. – Galena, KS

Kemlee Manufacturing is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Metal Fabrication Drafter to join our team. This position plays a critical role in reviewing customer drawings, preparing accurate cost estimates, and coordinating projects from quote to production.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Utilize AutoCAD and manufacturing drawings to determine material, labor, and production requirements.
• Prepare accurate and timely cost estimates and quotations for custom fabrication projects.
• Generate and manage purchase orders, shop orders, and project documentation.
• Collaborate with production, welding, fabrication, and management teams to ensure project success.
• Communicate directly with customers regarding project requirements, timelines, and pricing.
• Track and update estimates using Excel and company software systems.
• Assist with project planning, scheduling, and continuous process improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in the metal fabrication, manufacturing, or construction industry preferred.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting fabrication and manufacturing drawings.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of welding, forming, bending, machining, and custom fabrication processes.
• Experience with purchase orders, shop orders, and production workflows.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience

• Previous estimating experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of steel, aluminum, and other metal fabrication materials.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling.
