Drafter – Electrical Switchboard & Control Panel

As part of our business expansion, we are seeking a Drafter / AutoCAD Designer to join our growing team. This role focuses on preparing and developing detailed electrical switchboard, control panel and M&E technical drawings to support project execution, fabrication, installation and coordination.

The ideal candidate should have practical experience in electrical switchboard drafting and AutoCAD, with a good understanding of electrical drawings, panel layouts, wiring diagrams and technical details. Candidates with relevant experience in switchboard manufacturing, electrical panel building, M&E or electrical contracting are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and develop detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings for electrical switchboards and control panels, including:

  • General arrangement (GA) drawings
  • Panel layout and enclosure drawings
  • Schematic and single-line diagrams (SLD)
  • Control and wiring diagrams
  • Cable termination / connection drawings
  • Busbar and component layout drawings
  • Installation and as-built drawings

• Prepare drawings based on electrical schematics, project specifications, consultant drawings and engineering requirements.

• Develop and revise drawings according to project requirements, site conditions, client comments and engineering changes.

• Ensure accurate dimensions, component locations, cable entries, gland plates, busbar arrangements and other fabrication details.

• Liaise with engineers and project teams to clarify drawing requirements and resolve technical/drawing issues.

• Prepare and maintain proper drawing documentation, revision records and drawing registers.

• Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, applicable standards and company requirements.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Diploma / Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Drafting or a related field.

• Proficient in AutoCAD 2D with practical experience preparing electrical drawings.

• Experience in drawing electrical switchboards, control panels or electrical distribution boards is highly preferred.

• Experience in switchboard manufacturing, electrical contracting, M&E or control panel industries will be an added advantage.

• Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical, 3D CAD, Revit or other drafting software is an advantage.

• Good understanding of technical drawings, dimensions, detailing and drawing standards.

• Able to work independently and coordinate effectively with engineers, production and project teams.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in electrical switchboard, control panel, M&E, electrical contracting or related industries is preferred.
• Candidates with hands-on experience preparing switchboard GA, layout, schematic or wiring drawings will be given preference.
• Fresh graduates with a relevant electrical engineering/drafting qualification may be considered, but candidates with actual switchboard drafting experience are preferred. On-the-job training will be provided where required.
