Drafter (Mechanical)

About the role

A Mechanical Drafter role involving the creation of detailed technical drawings, BIM models, and fabrication documentation. You will work with engineers to translate structural and product requirements into precise designs using CAD software, and collaborate with project teams to ensure designs meet engineering standards and project deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with engineers to gather product and structural requirements and designs
• Calculate dimensions, weight limitations and requirements in materials
• Create detailed designs with computer-aided design software (AutoCAD)
• Issue fabrication drawings to design engineer for review and register it into engineering server
• Prepare and review rough sketches and review them along with the engineering team
• Identify potential operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality

About you

• At least a Certificate in Drafting / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or proven relevant experience as a drafter in a similar role
• Strong working knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, particularly AutoCAD (2D/3D technical drawings) and Revit / Revit MEP (for building services)
• Understanding of M&E building services, schematics, routing, piping, and local engineering codes or practices
• Ability to produce proposed layouts, detail drawings, shop drawings, BIM models, and "as-built" drawings
• Minimum 2 – 4 years' experience in related field
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a project team
• Responsible, committed, and able to meet project deadlines
• Required language(s): Bahasa Malaysia, English
