Location: Wichita, Kansas
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Pay: $23–$35+ per hour, based on experience and interview performance
Overtime: Available as needed

About the Opportunity

VDC Specialists is looking for detail-oriented, computer-savvy individuals to join our Annotations division in Wichita, Kansas.

Our team supports electrical construction projects by creating, annotating, and detailing installation drawings used by field teams. This is an opportunity to build a career in the technical and digital side of commercial construction while developing valuable skills in drafting, documentation, and Virtual Design & Construction.

Previous electrical or construction experience is helpful, but electrical knowledge is not required. We are also interested in candidates with backgrounds in drafting, architecture, engineering, CAD, or other technical fields who are eager to learn.

What You’ll Do

  • Create, annotate, and detail installation drawings for field installation.
  • Set up views, sheets, and schedules for project documentation.
  • Leverage construction drawings to ensure annotations are accurate and ready for field installation.
  • Review and maintain project standards and Annotations department standards, making updates as needed.
  • Export Revit models, Revit health schedules, and model progress schedules to help maintain project health.
  • Create training and tutorial videos to keep team training and standards current.
  • Respond to project and client requests.
  • Use computer-based design and documentation tools to complete assignments.
  • Learn VDC Specialists’ processes for producing accurate, high-quality project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete assignments and meet project deadlines.

What We’re Looking For

We are interested in candidates with experience or education in:

  • Architectural or engineering drafting
  • CAD or technical drawing
  • Construction or electrical work
  • Architecture, engineering, or design
  • Technical school or college programs
  • Other detail-oriented, computer-based technical fields

Previous professional drafting experience is a plus, but it is not required. Training will be provided to help you learn our software, processes, and project standards.

What Makes Someone Successful Here

The right candidate is someone who:

  • Pays close attention to detail
  • Learns quickly and is willing to ask questions
  • Can follow instructions and established standards
  • Takes ownership of assignments
  • Communicates clearly and professionally
  • Is comfortable receiving and applying feedback
  • Can manage deadlines and work collaboratively
  • Is motivated to develop technical skills and grow professionally

The Learning Curve

This is a technical role with a learning curve. Every new team member must learn VDC Specialists’ processes, project standards, software, and the specific requirements of our clients. Previous drafting, construction, or electrical experience may help you learn faster, but a strong work ethic, curiosity, and willingness to improve are equally important.

Career Growth

This position is designed for individuals who want more than a short-term job. As you develop your technical skills, project knowledge, and ability to produce high-quality deliverables, you will have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and continue building a career with VDC Specialists.
